Advanced Leadership Course Review

A number of the Scouts who attended the ASLC (Advanced Scout Leadership Course) have sent us their thoughts on the event. These are very positive which is a good sign for the future of the advanced course.

I had a fantastic weekend and think you should run it again. I learnt so much this weekend and I think it would be good for other scouts to know this stuff because it will be very helpful for them during their lifetime. So please run it again it would be a shame if you didn't.

Thanks for a experience of a lifetime.

Laura

It was interesting on the first day meeting at the train station with a group of kids you had never met before and leaders you had never seen but there was something very casual about it. It seemed as if there were no nerves in meeting new people and knowing that we would have to make friends so that we can work together to complete the challenges ahead. The course was really fun, exciting and very unpredictable which made it a whole lot more enjoyable.

The way the challenges kept coming and there was no time to rest worked very well and the 9:00am sleep in was awesome. What we all did over the weekend I will never forget and I'm sure everyone would love it to go for more then 2 days.

I had a great time at the Advanced Leadership Course and learnt a lot about working with other people and promoting the good in people.

The treasure hunt at the Sydney Easter Show was a great way to have the scouts work together and really experience what was on offer at the show. Finding our own way back to Pennant Hills was also good fun.

The wide game on Saturday night was a good idea but could have been better organised.

Thanks for organising the course. I would recommend it to other Scouts.

Thanks for organising the Leadership Course.

The activity that I liked best was the Scavenger hunt at the Sydney Easter Show because we actually looked around the show to find everything and had to work together to get it done on time. Having a camera was a great idea.

Helping at the Scout base was also a good opportunity to help promote Scouting. The activities there were fun.

I enjoyed meeting Scouts from other areas, some I may see again at Jamboree.

Cooking in our patrol was easier than cooking for the whole group which is what we do on other scout camps.

From the course I learnt more about how to work and talk with other people, respect and about the importance of acknowledging good behaviour.
