At the November State Scout Youth Council, Brendon Kingdom, Alan Blunt and Anne Marie Van Duin were thanked for their great work in establishing Scout Youth Councils across the State. Their positions have now been re-elected for 2010. Meet the new Executive for the State Scout Youth Council for 2010.

Tylanda Murray 2010 SSYC Chairperson Hello I am Tylanda Murray from 1st Kandos Scout group in The Golden West Region. I am also the SSYC Chairperson for 2010. I enjoy Scouts because I think Scouts has so much to offer in life, Scouts teach you the skills in life that you will need all through your life. Scouts is also a fun and exciting group to be in, you make friends from all different places and have a lot of fun to go with it. I am at 12 years of age and love having fun in life and don't care what people think of me. So have fun in life and enjoy what you do. Tylanda Murray |

Codey Swadling 2010 SSYC Vice Chairperson Hi, I am Codey Swadling from the 3rd Orange Scout Group in the Golden West Region. I am the Vice-Chairman of the State Scout Youth Council. I joined Scouts because I thought it was a fun way of meeting new friends and having a good time through different activities. So far I have experienced both. On the 8th of November this year I had never heard of SYC (no one had in my troop) and I had no idea what I had to do when I was elected as a representative of my region. I want the knowledge of SYC’s existence more common throughout Scouting so that new representatives don’t have to wonder what they have just volunteered for like me. I also want Scouts to know that they have a VOICE! To quote a leader I met a few weeks ago “Scouting is a youth movement, if we don’t have youth then we don’t have a movement”. People will leave Scouting if they don’t have fun. Scouts have the power to change things about the Scouting organisation! Yours in Scouting, Codey |

Connor Hayes 2010 SSYC Secretary My name is Connor Hayes and I'm from Maryland/Shortland Scout Group, which is in the Hunter and Coastal Region. I like Scouts because it gives you a chance to do things you can't do in everyday life such as abseiling and rock climbing. I hope to achieve the best I can in the Secretary role in the State Scout Youth Council. Connor |
