The following guidelines have been approved by the NSW State Mindari for use when applying for the Australian Scout Medallion.
Steps:
- Once Leadership Project agreed to by the Candidate, Troop Council and Regional Commissioner, Scouts (mentor), the Candidate, Scout Leader and Regional Commissioner, Scouts complete and sign the application form forwarding it along with the Project Brief to the State Commissioner, Scouts for approval to commence the project.
- The project cannot be commenced until such time as the State Commissioner, Scouts notifies that the commencement approval has been given.
- On completion and final approval of the Leadership Project and when all other requirements are completed, the State Commissioner, Scouts will approve the Award of Australian Scout Medallion. The ASM Register is updated at this point and citation prepared.
- The Medallion and Badge are forwarded to the Regional Commissioner, Scouts, at which time, a suitable date and venue is chosen by the Scout, in conjunction with the Troop Council for the Presentation.
- State Commissioner, Scouts forwards the details and citations of Awardees to State Office following the closing date for applications to attend the Presentation of Certificates by the Governor and Chief Scout at Government House.
- State Office forwards official invitations and information to Awardees seeking RSVPs, etc. pertaining to the Presentation of Certificates.
- Youth Members Records are updated by State Office to include ASM as a major award, citing the Presentation of Certificates as the official date of the Award.
- Certificates are created by State Office and signed by the Chief Commissioner, NSW and State Commissioner, Scouts.
Note: The maintenance of and supporting documentation to the ASM Register is conducted by the State Scout Team.
